As editorial director of Material Handling Management and Logistics Today magazines, David Drickhamer set the editorial direction of Penton Media’s Supply Chain Group magazines and worked with the staff to develop that content. As editor he regularly spoke to supply chain experts, distribution industry analysts and technology and equipment users and developers, and represented the magazine as a speaker and participant at industry conferences and trade shows. In addition to managing the staff, magazine contributors and special projects, he wrote a monthly column and regular feature stories, moderated webcasts and edited weekly e-newsletters.
Prior to joining Material Handling Management, Drickhamer was editorial research director of IndustryWeek magazine. In that capacity he reported on issues and trends in organizational development, business excellence, operational strategy, supply-chain and logistics, and plant-level manufacturing issues. He wrote a monthly column titled "Continuous Improvement" on the quest for operational excellence. Drickhamer directed IndustryWeek's “Best Plants” program, overseeing the administration and coordination for the awards competition and the editorial coverage that annually selected the best manufacturing facilities in North America. He also managed the magazine's research-intensive projects, including the IW1000 and US500 list of largest publicly traded manufacturers in the world and the United States (with Mergent), Best Manufacturing Companies, Census of Manufacturers benchmarking study (with the Manufacturing Performance Institute) and the Value Chain Survey (with IBM Consulting Services).
Prior to joining IndustryWeek Drickhamer covered a variety of manufacturing industries as managing editor of Welding Design & Fabrication, Metal Heat Treating, and Forging magazines. He is past treasurer of the local chapter of the American Society of Business Press Editors.
Drickhamer graduated summa cum laude from Brandeis University where he earned bachelor's degrees in American Studies and English. He's working toward his MBA from the Nance College of Business at Cleveland State University.
